ExxonMobil is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide Materials Engineering technical support and expertise to its oil and gas production, refining and chemicals operations, and capital projects. The candidate would be part of ExxonMobil's Materials Engineering team in ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company, working out of ExxonMobil's Bengaluru Campus (Prestige Shantiniketan) in India. The candidate would be responsible for working with multi-discipline teams to execute/establish/improve materials engineering related work processes/solutions/ recommendations.

What you will do

 

Primary Job Functions

 

  • Perform materials selection for Greenfield and Brownfield projects across the Upstream, Low Carbon Solutions, and Petrochemical value chains by leveraging company and industry standards, codes, and global practices.
  • Develop materials specifications for procurement of new equipment for a project or planned replacement.
  • Act as a Materials Project Engineering Specialist to review equipment and piping design specifications and other related materials integrity documents developed by EPCs.
  • Review materials test reports and mill certificates to confirm conformance with materials specification requirements.
  • Perform corrosion calculations using EM Proprietary and 3rd Party vendor corrosion prediction models to support material selection decisions.
  • Review Materials Selection Philosophy, Manufacturer's MPS/ITP and other Materials Engineering related documents.
  • Provide resolution to materials deviation requests from EPC's and Operating organizations on timely and clear communication with project teams with consideration to performance/integrity, CAPEX, schedule and OPEX factors.
  • Perform life cycle cost calculations to validate material selection decisions incl. options for corrosion and low alloy steels with corrosion management.
  • Participate in reviewing and upgrading company and/or industry guidelines and practices.
  • Provide technical mentoring and continuous on-the-job guidance to early career engineers in the team.
  • Coordinate and communicate between various global centers and business affiliates for knowledge transfer, sharing learnings, skill management and maintaining business relationships.
  • Perform failure analysis for metallic material involving various degradation mechanism and provide or recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Perform probability/risk assessments in support of equipment strategy development for equipment exposed to various degradation mechanisms.
  • Participate in Integrity assessment/assurance activities like FFS, Corrosion Evaluations and Remaining Life Studies.
  • Learn and develop proficiencies for Data analytics, digital tools/ technologies and operationalize upgraded work practices through digital transformation.

About You

  

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from a recognized university in Metallurgy/ Materials Engineering or related disciplines from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in any engineering industries in the area of Materials engineering.
  • Demonstrated work experience and knowledge in Welding/fabrication, and Inspection/testing, metallurgy and manufacturing, materials selection, failure analysis, corrosion control.

 

Preferred Qualifications/Experiences

 

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills in English, adaptability/interpersonal skills.
  • Work shift is normally in the afternoon shift (01:30 pm to 10:30 pm) with flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Flexibility to travel internationally as per business needs.
