What you will do
Role be responsible for overseeing team (~7 ppl) accountable for ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational efficiency of EM contracted vessels specifically around Marine Assurance, vessel vetting to ensure Environmental performance. Further, manage business risks due to delivery delay of either TCP newbuild or existing vessels from shipyards while meeting performance and quality. Work through shipowners to influence shipyards to minimize business impacts due to any incidents or delays in yards. Work with the managed service provider (MSP) on various tasks related to marine quality assurance, shipyard program and projects interfaces. Merchant Marine leadership background with proven risk management and shipyard delivery / fleet management experience required.
In depth knowledge of shipping and associated shipbuilding industry. Strong Marine operations, technical and/or nautical expertise and exposure to MQA principles, HC Critical Safeguards and HC Risk Management interfaces. Ability to Steward Global Marine SSHE performance; including marine security aspects in connection with Global Security team

- Candidate be responsible for the Marine Quality Assurance (MQA) Standards of EM that drive marine environmental performance (~ 24K Seagoing vessel and 80K coastal and inland barges per year with ~ 500 vessels on water daily)
- Responsible for overall Global Marine OIMS compliance & stewardship; Owner of OIMS Elements 2, 8, & 10B; Administrator for OIMS elements 1 & 11; C Responsible for maintenance of EM Vetting Systems and execution of OIMS Element 8A (Vetting)
- Responsible for Global marine Hazard Risk Analysis (HRA) & Triage systems; Chair Risk Assessment Steering Committee (RASC); Coordinate Global Emergency response committees and ensure ESG readiness
- Responsible for screening and PQ for shipyards for specific vessel types, gathering insights from yards, owners, class societies, and equipment suppliers on vessel specification, feasibility, MESQAC requirements.
- Manage and provide oversight for all EM shipyard-based Vessel acquisition activities including new-build program and vessel dry-docking program including repair, retrofit, and major vessel overhaul / upgrade activities.

About You-Continued
- In charge of the Charterer’s shipbuilding/drydocking oversight activities and oversees shipyard’s project construction management procedure, monitors and report the progress, and confirm compliance with the contractual obligations and EM policies & procedures.
- Provide oversight and guidance into key Technical / Shipyard design development and construction progress meetings and support the Charterer site manager and technical team on any and all technical initiatives to support the design and construction of new vessels and existing vessel dry docking programs.
- Serve as Charterer’s Point of Contact (PoC) for justified capital modifications that enhance selected long-term chartered vessel’s emission profile.
- Upon successful sea trials, manages the interfaces with MQA and Vessel operations to induct the vessel from the shipyard into operations
- Interfaces with shipping companies senior operational management to promote Global Marine Organization interests and advocacy priorities
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Team deliverables will get routine (monthly) exposure to EMSC L1 & L2s
- Candidate will also be working to develop and facilitate Global Marine Transformation processes & deliverables across leadership interfaces across all key Global Marine & trading hubs (US, UK, Singapore)
- Ability to lead EM position in industry advocacy forums and deliver results in accordance with Company requirements
- High integrity, disciplined, discretion and adherence to confidentiality.
- Ability to connect and interface with top executive level positions with Shipyards and shipowners
- Effective mentoring & motivating capabilities, ability to effectively plan and prioritize activities.
