What role you will play in our team

 

The Lead Data Steward acts as the delegate of the Data Owner, responsible for safeguarding and enhancing the data assets within their domain, with a focus on the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Materials domain. This role ensures data quality and appropriate usage, defines global standards, and implements effective processes while balancing regional and functional needs. Collaboration with data stakeholders and other teams to identify and resolve data issues is key. The Lead Data Steward serves as the primary contact and subject matter expert in their data domain, with potential to grow into Inventory and Equipment domains. Additionally, this role establishes and enforces data governance policies, monitors and improves data quality, and provides training and support to data users.

 

Job will be based at Bangalore, Whitefield office ( WFO) for 5 days in a week.

What you will do

 

Data Stewardship:

  • Lead the Data Stewardship (DS) Team, prioritize work, and create action plans to address issues.
  • Provide tactical guidance to Data Stewards and manage data issues within the domain.
  • Calculate costs, benefits, and ROI of data governance (DG) activities.
  • Monitor referential integrity of master/reference data and compliance with data standards and rules.
  • Ensure implementation of necessary data quality metrics and follow up on data quality (DQ) corrections.

Data Oversight:

  • Report data governance progress to the Data Governance Council (DGC) and track DG/DQ metrics.
  • Submit solution proposals to the DGC and handle tasks delegated by the Data Owner.
  • Collaborate with process and system owners to clarify requirements and propose appropriate data quality levels.

Data Artifacts:

  • Review and approve the content of data governance artifacts.
  • Endorse business rules for data quality rule creation and advocate for industry data standards.
  • Ensure important data assets are cataloged with adequate and quality metadata.

Data Governance Maturity:

  • Assess the current state of data governance implementation and conduct periodic maturity assessments.
  • Develop training plans and coordinate training activities related to data governance.

Data Products:

  • Capture data product needs and translate them into data process improvement plans.
  • Work with process and data operations managers to implement changes for new data product requirements.
  • Provide DG/DQ guidance to data product managers/owners.

Most Important Functions

  • Lead the Data Stewardship Team: Prioritize tasks, create action plans, and guide Data Stewards.
  • Ensure Data Quality: Implement data quality metrics, monitor data integrity, and follow up on corrections.
  • Report and Collaborate: Report progress to the Data Governance Council, submit proposals, and work with process and system owners to clarify requirements

About You

 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in materials and Data governance either together or separately.

Degrees & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in data management, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Relevant certifications in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus.

Job Critical Work Knowledge:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with Data Governance processes, Data Catalog solutions (e.g. Collibra, Informatica, Alation or any other metadata, cataloging and governance tool).
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with Master Data Management processes
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience with MRO Materials Processes
  • Proven experience in data management, specifically in MRO Materials, Inventory, and Manufacturing Equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of how these processes work in SAP.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of data governance, data quality principles, and industry standards.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
