What role you will play in our team

 


Join ExxonMobil's Technology and Engineering Company in Raw Materials Characterization & Compositional Modelling group. Our team develops & fine-tunes models for process units, e.g. hydro processors or fluid catalytic crackers, to optimize their operation and profit. Our group closely collaborates with Process Engineers who run & monitor the units for fine-tuning the models. We also interface with Process Research Team, which investigates new kinetics & runs experiments to verify new models. Our group also works with optimizations teams who leverage business & plant data to verify quality of models and their fidelity in real world. Areas of research can include petroleum crude and renewable feedstock from vegetable oils to bio-waste & recycled plastics processing.

What you will do

 

  • Understand & able to troubleshoot currently developed proprietary kinetic & compositional models.
  • Collaborate with Process Research Team to develop new kinetic & composition models, including design of experiments and analyzing experimental data.
  • Provide technical leadership through technical training, work process reviews and best practice implementations
  • Identify opportunities on improving models to better capture processes or improve performance of models
  • Provide direction to Raw material Characterization on parameters of interest in better modeling properties & kinetics
  • Position could require 5-10% travel (domestic and international).

About You

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering discipline or relevant e.g. Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with minimum GPA score of 7.0 & Above.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in oil and gas industry.
  • Must be familiar with kinetic modelling & reaction networks.
  • Strong background in programming, data analytics and ability to learn a new programming language.
  • Self-motivated & driven to learn.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

 

  • Demonstrated experience in Research & ability to design a research plan & lead it, e.g. a PhD degree
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally/inter-disciplinary
  • Familiarity with APL & Fortran programming language
  • Familiar with statistical analysis of data & ability to develop models
  • Familiar with numerical analysis methods
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with ability to document the works & present to different audience
  • Prior experience in molecular modelling (MD/MC/DFT)
