Job Role Responsibilities

 

  • Support new and existing upstream and downstream (petrochemical and refinery) oil and gas projects and operating units with welding procedure specification, procedure qualification record and welder performance qualification reviews, development of specifications, hardware, testing, inspection and failure analysis of welding and fabrication related technical issues, materials selection, materials integrity and related materials engineering responsibilities to support asset integrity and reliability
  • Knowledgeable in  the manufacturing, processing, fabrication, and heat treating practices affect material properties
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the suitability of metallic materials for common applications. Understanding of common damage mechanisms associated with metallic materials and how they degrade material performance
  • Understand laboratory testing techniques (e.g., optical microscopy, SEM) used for materials characterization
  • Knowledgeable in understanding microstructural features in steels and alloys and their influence on physical properties. Apply knowledge in the properties and microstructures formed in carbon and low alloy steel weld metals and HAZ's
  • Apply metallurgical principles and contributes to solving welding problems (low strength and toughness, hydrogen cracking, solidification cracking)
  • Understand and apply essential variables contained in one or more welding codes during reviews and can determine code requirements for weld procedure qualification
  • Demonstrate the ability to define QA/QC requirements (parameter monitoring, visual inspection, and NDE requirements) for a standard welding application
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the industry fabrication codes and standards utilized in the business function, e.g., ASME Section IX, ASME B31.3,ASME SEC VIII, DNVGL-ST-F101, API STD 1104, API RP 577, or API RP 582, and utilizes them in specifying and reviewing work
  • Support for the transfer of a materials technology to a project or production or refinery unit. Coordinate with materials vendor regarding the quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) requirements
  • Provide pertinent engineering expertise to root cause failure analysis
  • Review deliverables to ensure compliance with specifications, design practices, materials engineering and integrity toolkit and best practices.  Documents may include piping & instrument diagrams, material selection diagrams, materials design basis memorandums (MDBM), data sheets, vendor proposals, and technical studies
  • Stewardship of engineering technology center services with regard to quality, effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Provide technical mentorship to early-career professionals, with emphasis on skill gaps. Participates in internal networks through which their capabilities can be disseminated to the benefit of others. leverage global SME network, and steward lessons learned and knowledge management platforms to leverage key lessons learned
  • Support functional initiatives and maintains discipline documentation pertinent to upstream and downstream facilities
  • Proactively and continuously grows technical expertise in pertinent technologies

Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum Bachelors degree or Masters degree from a recognized university in metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, materials engineering or related disciplines with GPA of 7 & above.
  • Minimum 7 years of  work experience as materials engineer/welding engineer or similar with oil and gas industry experience
  • Technical skills, competencies, and experiences in the following areas:
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Knowledge in risk-based integrity management
  • Experience with applicable industry codes/standards (e.g. experience with applicable Industry codes/standards (e.g. National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM))
  • Root cause failure analysis and lessons learned capture
  • Experience in materials engineering and integrity management with an operating company, field service provider, or engineering/technical firm where other similar experiences may be considered
  • Onshore and offshore facilities design, preferably direct experience working on-site in oil & gas facilities
  • Strong organizational, management, and technical judgment skills
  • Good understanding of project life cycle and department interfaces
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with technical, projects, and operational stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Strong track record in mentoring and coaching less experienced employees.
  • Good team player & should work towards achieving common goal
  • Ability to adapt tight deadlines, heavy workloads, frequent changes in priorities
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Maintain current knowledge (e.g. participation in industry conferences / forums)
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite 
  • Willing  to travel as required, both domestic and international
  • Flexible to work in shifts 1.30 PM – 10.30 PM IST
