Mechanical Execution First-Line Supervisor

Job Summary

• Deliver supervision and subject matter expert knowledge for Refining / petrochemical, piping, and fixed equipment

Primary Job Functions

• Accountable for overall safety performance of assigned personnel
• Support concept that all injuries are preventable
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) principles by personally exhibiting  "safety first' behaviors
• Manage daily work progress to ensure personnel are working in a safe environment, using safe work practices, and following all Safety Standards and procedures
• Ensure quality toolbox safety meetings (pertinent/timely topics, participation by all crew members) are being conducted to maintain safety awareness
• Conduct required safety audits and safety walking tours
• Personally demonstrate teamwork and a spirit of cooperation 
• Encourage and reward excellent team and individual performance
• Take initiative to improve existing systems and procedures
• Be a facilitator and leader
• Recognize, understand, value, and utilize the diversity of your team
• Maintain the highest integrity and ethical standards at all times
• Take initiative to improve existing systems and procedures
• Provide candid input on proposed changes to policies and procedures, and other management decisions. Fully support and implement final decisions
• Develop, document, and execute annual training/performance improvement plans for each employee to continuously improve job knowledge and skills
• Consistently administer Company personnel policies and procedures (e.g. Business Ethics, Conflict of Interest, Drug and Alcohol, Medical Certification, Harassment, Overtime, Positive Discipline, Timesheets, Working Rules) 
• Set high productivity standards and hold people accountable to them
• Work closely within a team environment to ensure ongoing jobs are being tracked to stay on schedule and on budget 
• Provide input to team members on job status, path forward, issues, concerns, etc
• Be knowledgeable of the assigned jobs and communicate job plan to employees
• Responsible for overall job quality--ensure work complies with Company standards, drawings, specifications, and good work practices
• Demonstrate flexibility when unit needs require
• Execute all jobs safely, effectively and efficiently 
• Conduct pre-startup safety audits and complete follow-up prior to equipment start-up
• Establish high housekeeping standards
• Review maintenance metrics to ensure quality and reliability

Job Requirements

• Experience in the Refining / petrochemical industry.  A minimum of five years of experience is preferred, but will also consider candidates with less experience and a BS in engineering  
• Demonstrated technical troubleshooting/diagnostic and decision-making skills
• Planning, estimating, scheduling, resource allocation, and field execution skills
• Knowledge of basic unit processes and process equipment
• Leadership skills
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, scheduling software, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA's)

• Demonstrated relevant work experience with Refining / petrochemical storage tanks, piping, and fixed equipment
• Ability to read and properly interpret Engineering contruction drawings
• Oversee tank construction activities to ensure compliance with construction schedules, drawings, job specifications and procedures
