Machinery Engineer - Beaumont Area Engineering Services

Job Role Summary
  • Machinery Engineers will support the Beaumont Refining and Chemical Complex as part of Beaumont Area Engineering Services.
Job Role Responsibilities
  • Support process departments through online machinery performance optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Support maintenance departments by providing field troubleshooting and quality repair specifications, direction, and training.
  • Support turnaround departments by defining a risk-based work scope and design, Inspection & Test Plan development, execution quality assurance, and closeout reporting.
  • Apply engineering theory, practices, and principles to determine root cause of equipment failures and to perform performance evaluations.
  • Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and field data to develop and improve equipment strategies to obtain lowest life cycle cost on rotating equipment.
  • Provide technical support in project development, QA/QC, installation, and commissioning.
Job Role Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of machinery/rotating equipment used in refining and petrochemical production including compressors, pumps, steam turbines, electric motors, gear boxes, etc.
  • Familiarity with machinery auxiliary systems, including lube oil, seal oil, hydraulics, monitoring systems, control systems, and protective systems.
  • Understanding of aerodynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, rotor dynamics, strength of materials and application of these topics to machinery design, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to lead and influence others.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to perform root cause failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as API, AGMA, and NEMA.
Candidate Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • 5-10 years of machinery engineering experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (group/event lead or equivalent roles)
  • Strong Technical and Interpersonal Abilities
