About Beaumont
With a population of more than 118,000, Beaumont ,Texas, is located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, on the Neches River, about 85 miles east of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city. Beaumont has been a home to the oil industry from the days of the Spindletop oil boom until today, and along with nearby Port Arthur and Orange, is part of the Golden Triangle industrial area on the Texas Gulf Coast. Built along the banks of the Neches River in 1903, the original ExxonMobil Beaumont refining facilities have grown into an integrated petrochemical complex on 2,700 acres and have contributed to the economic and social landscape of southeast Texas. With a workforce of more than 5,500, the Beaumont complex includes a refinery, chemical plant, polyethylene plant and lubricant blending and packaging plant. Not only does Beaumont produce Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil, it is the only manufacturer of Mobil Aviation Greases. Other products include fuels and chemical compounds used in a diverse range of products, including plastics, Nylon, shrink wrap and more.

What role you will play in our team
We are looking for an OPEX analyst our Beaumont, Texas Complex and Polyethylene Facility. An OPEX analyst is a financial subject matter expert, supports the site leadership team and budget owners in meeting OPEX targets through accurate OPEX reporting and analysis, and interfaces with headquarters contacts to steward site OPEX performance.
What you will do
- Perform Month End Close Activities, delivering OPEX estimates, financial validation, and report submission. Ensure data integrity and reporting for entire manufacturing site. Analyze, promote understanding, and report key OPEX drivers and projections
- Be the subject matter expert on OPEX KPIs (i.e. knowledge of how they are calculated and key drivers)
- Own OPEX Stewardship. Support monthly site OPEX reporting, stewardship meetings, and decision making. Validate integrity of results contained in above-site KPI dashboards
- Analyze and provide key drivers for OPEX actuals and trends
- Support Business Analysis & Reporting Supervisor in preparation for monthly/quarterly stewardship with Site Leadership. Interface with regional earnings analyst to provide site OPEX impacts on earnings
- Support OPEX Business Plan Development. Coordinate and support developing a financially steward-able plan. Support and steward submission template creation and updates to enable site budget owner engagement
- Be the key interface for External OPEX Reporting and Benchmarking. Complete periodic benchmarking activities, including training, kickoff, support team coordination, and data integrity validation
- Complete periodic external surveys supporting regulatory requirements and above site decision making
- Manage OPEX data integrity issue identification, resolution, and escalation
- Escalate issues to Business Performance Support (BPS) and Data Owners for resolution
About you
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in the Refining/petrochemical industry. A minimum of five years of experience is preferred but will also consider candidates with less experience and a BS in accounting or engineering
- Demonstrated relevant work experience in financial accounting, OPEX stewardship, and/or capital project controls
- Ability to read and properly interpret financial reports
- Leadership skills, including promoting inclusion, customer focus, courage of conviction, effective communication, conflict management, and interaction with others
- Ability to clearly articulate and correlate current period OPEX impacts to business events that occurred
- Finance skills, including business analysis and stewardship reporting, business and industry understanding, corporate and external reporting, financial accounting fundamentals, accounting policies and practices
- Demonstrated technical troubleshooting/diagnostic and decision-making skills
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, SAP, and Tableau
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
