Slurry Polyethylene Process Engineer

Job Role Summary

As a member of ExxonMobil Chemical Company’s (EMCC) Global Polymers Technology organization, the Slurry Polyethylene Process Engineer will serve as a senior technical resource primarily responsible for identifying optimization and betterment opportunities of slurry polyethylene technology and supporting rollout efforts of new product initiatives to Manufacturing.  The role requires an in-depth understanding of the current state of slurry polyethylene technology and will involve the development and dissemination of new process technology within the organization.  The position will also include work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems and improve the performance at EMCC’s worldwide network of polymers plants through the application of sound engineering principles.  Additionally, the Slurry Polyethylene Process Engineer will be responsible for leveraging and managing relationships with internal and external groups to improve the performance of EMCC assets.

Primary Job Functions

  • Applies personnel and process safety principles within EMCC facilities
  • Drives improvement within EMCC operations through technical contribution and innovation
  • Participates in global process networks and network initiative implementation
  • Supports implementation of new technology developments
  • Supports new product development and plant implementation
  • Development of the next generation of technical professionals
  • Manages site Intellectual Property obligations
  • Requires 10-15% domestic and international travel
  • Strictly adheres to safety rules and systems

Job Requirements

  • B.S. Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing or technology support
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in slurry polyethylene manufacturing operations
  • Prior experience in the development and implementation of small to medium size projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10 – 25% of time)

  • Expert in the use of accepted industry technical tools and methods
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization on technical topics
  • Leadership and initiative in identifying and resolving technical challenges

  • Understands economic/market conditions as they relate to use, acquisition, and development of technology
  • Team player within the EMCC technical community
