Process Research Guidance Sr. Advisor

Job Role Responsibilities

 

  • Works with technology program leaders to establish economic bases and valuations of major programs in all areas of EMCC technology
  • Develops raw material and by-product values, project plans, and investment estimates etc. sufficient to differentiate among options based on often scarce data or information
  • Helps technology program leaders to focus their efforts and resources on critical value-added questions and to understand the internal / external interfaces that impact their program’s value
  • Uses technical and economic expertise to build models connecting technical variables (process or product performance) to economic performance
  • Provides or obtains necessary analyses (heat / mass balances) needed to support these models
  • Provides framing for key decisions facing technical programs along with analysis of cost / benefit for different options
  • Communicates and documents results of technical and economic analysis effectively and appropriately for use in decision-making settings (e.g. Gate Reviews, management updates, etc.)
  • Stays abreast of EMCC and XOM requirements for consistent evaluation of technology (CP pricing, methodology, etc.)
  • Represents Technology Guidance in Opportunity Identification sessions
  • Facilitates project Cold Eyes Reviews
  • Mentors less experienced program leaders in R&D economics

Job Requirements

 

  • Knowledge of refinery and chemicals processes
  • Economic guidance and decision analysis for major technology programs
  • Prior leadership of technology or research programs in one or more business areas
  • Minimum of BS degree in Chemical Engineering
  • PHD in Chemical Engineering / MBA degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant Chemical industry experience

  • Program leaders and teams for Process Stepout programs
  • Strong connection to Process research groups, especially in BTEC
  • Good interchange with EMRE Research Guidance
  • Routine connection with NPP, RCI
