Control Systems Specialist

Job Role Summary

As a member of the Baytown Engineering Services Department, the Control Systems Specialist provides technical and operational expertise for day-to-day support of Refinery and Chemical Plant process control systems and infrastructure.  Primary responsibilities include designing and maintaining TCP/IP-based networks, installing and maintaining Microsoft Windows servers and system applications, and maintaining Microsoft Windows domain infrastructures.  Additional duties include monitoring system and network performance, ensuring compliance with network and domain security standards, and maintaining accurate systems documentation.  This position is located at the Baytown Complex in Baytown, TX.


Job Role Responsibilities

  • Install/upgrade/troubleshoot: Window Servers, Window Workstations, and Cisco Network equipment.
  • Support/troubleshoot/configure/administer Windows Active Directory Domain services and infrastructure.
  • Install/upgrade/troubleshoot Windows applications.
  • Support Honeywell TDC3000/Experion control systems.
  • Support 24 hour-a-day, 365 day-per-year refinery operations. The successful candidate must be available for 24/7 on-call, after-hours and weekend support.

Job Requirements

  • Computer science or Electrical Technician degree or equivalent degree/work experience.
  • Established skills and experience with a full spectrum of Windows Server support and installation.
  • Experience with relational database systems (Oracle and MS SQL Server).
  • Working knowledge of Oracle SQL, Fortran, OPC, and visual basic.
  • Experience supporting various computer LAN applications that use a variety of network communications protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Honeywell TDC-3000/Experion Systems.
  • Established expertise with TCP/IP-based network switches and routers.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Relevant experience desired in Refinery/Chemical Plant Process Control systems.
  • Candidates will need to work effectively as a member of an operating team, which means good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Sufficient leadership skills needed to successfully promote ideas and positively, yet critically analyze work activities recommended by others is strongly desired.
