Mechanical Availability Leader (MAL)

Job Role Summary

The Mechanical Availability Leader (MAL) is accountable for working closely with the Mechanical and Engineering organizations to drive alignment and foster an effective working relationships between the Business Team, the Mechanical Function and the Engineering organization.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Accountable for unit availability consistent with the Business Team reliability and cost objectives:
    • Drive high Annual Maintenance Plan compliance, Preventive Maintenance compliance, and repair work order backlog.
    • Drive work selected for long term reliability, not just short term budget or schedule compliance.
    • Accountable for break-in count performance, execution and quality  review of work order screening and prioritization to ensure scheduled work is aligned with business priorities and expect due dates. Verify work notifications meeting approval guidelines and determine category for execution timing. Authorize any work notifications reviewed in morning meetings.
    • Ensure scope is defined prior to releasing work notifications to Maintenance consistent with prioritization. Ensure and drive accountability for overdue work order compliance and mechanical work schedule by communicating any changes in work schedule, verify operational support, verify mechanical staffing and agreement on readiness and timing, pre-job work is completed.
    • Ensure work order screening and prioritization for both routine and non-routine maintenance.
  • Responsible for managing and stewarding business team Maintenance budget.
  • Accountable for business team compliance, effectiveness/health of risk management, and annual maintenance plan. Determine root cause of gaps and execute improvements.
  • Accountable for stewarding Mechanical executed Hydrocarbon Controls Practices and Calibration activities for Business Team

Job Role Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Prior work interfacing between operations and maintenance 
  • Supervision experience preferred 
  • Prior work experience in oil and gas industry 
  • Managing competing priorities and providing updates to management
