Job Role Summary


The Capital Budget Coordinator will work in the Olefins Technical Department supporting ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Chemical Plant. This position is responsible for setting the annual capital budget for the Olefins Department, ensuring capital projects progress through the gating system, and serves as the liaison with the Projects, Operations, and Maintenance organizations for all items pertaining to Olefins Capital Projects. This position is an anchor position at the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant and may support other departments as needed. This position will also mentor less experienced Capital Budget Coordinators in the area and potentially outside Baton Rouge. 

Job Role Responsibilities


•    Serves as lead for Olefins capital projects
•    Identify, Prioritize, and Progress justified projects from inception through field execution
•    Set the capital budget for the next year, five years out, and longer term planning. 
•    Ensure project development and approval documentation requirements are met
•    Remove project obstacles for funding / execution 
•    Owner/steward of Olefins Capital Budget 
•    Possess basic understanding of capital vs. expense rulings
•    Track capital expenditures for projects
•    Maintain capital budget and update as business needs change
•    Obtain additional funding as needed 
•    Perform project reappraisals as needed 
•    Support Expense budgeting in line with the capital budget
•    Serve as the senior capital budget coordinator for the Baton Rouge Chemicals sites; mentor less experienced 



Job Requirements: 


•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 
•    A self-starter with a proven record of taking initiative and achieving results
•    Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities
•    Demonstrated ability to work within a team, effective verbal and written communication skills required for multiple internal interfaces
•    Ability to think critically, identify and solve problems independently, strong analytical, technical, and coordination skills
•    Intermediate level desktop computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. 

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


•    More than five (5) years of experience with the design and funding of capital projects
•    Demonstrated leadership skills including mentoring less experienced capital budget coordinators
