Job Role Summary

The Analyzer Engineer has responsibilities for the support on-stream process analyzer systems and data networks, including design concept, engineering / specification, integration, and installation.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fit for purpose applications providing compositional analysis for use in advanced process control, feedstock qualification, product quality certification, and environmental compliance 
  • Interface with business teams to maintain and improve analyzer reliability while increasing profitability
  • Collaborate across diverse organizational networks including suppliers, analyzer technicians, process operations, process designers, process control engineers, and facilities management
  • Provide technical expertise relative to support of process analyzer systems, including troubleshooting acute and chronic issues, reliability performance, and analyzer procedure development
  • Contribute technical support for project activities including justification, front-end development, cost estimation, design and construction
  • Develop Equipment Strategy framework to ensure reliability and functionality of new and existing analyzer systems
  • Participate and interface with Analyzer Global Community of Practice to leverage standards, specifications, and practices 

Job Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry preferred (BS in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering will also be considered)
  • A two year Associates Degree in Instrumentation and 10 years of experience in Process Analytics may be considered in lieu of advanced degree
  • Inherent understanding of physics and chemistry is required especially relative to gas and fluid dynamics
  • Experience working on analytical instrumentation, analyzer equipment and sample systems
  • Understanding of integrated analyzer systems and knowledge of spectroscopy, gas chromatography, oxygen analysis, and other types of process analytical measurement technologies
  • Understanding of basic refinery and/or chemical plant operations and hands on approach to design and problem solving
  • Proficient in the use of computer software
  • Ability to work closely with team; excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience working at a Refinery or Chemical Plant
