Welding and Fabrication Engineer

Job Role Summary

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide Projects, Operations and Drilling teams with fit-for-purpose review, recommendations, and troubleshoot welding and related fabrication activities
  • Support for stewardship of third-party studies and work
  • Effectively communicating risks and opportunities related to welding and fabrication work
  • Provide technical support and solutions to project-related technical issues to project teams and contractors
  • Support new and existing upstream oil and gas projects with development of specifications, qualification, testing, inspection, and failure analysis of welding and fabrication related technical issues.
  • Review and understand company technical requirements and steward projects toward technical excellence
  • Provide technical support to development and maintenance of company’s global practices and mentor technical development of employees.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities and recommendations to customers


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Relevant welding and fabrication experience, preferably in oil and gas upstream environment.
  • Experience with welding processes, welding metallurgy, weld procedure qualification and testing of carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloys
  • Expertise in relevant industry codes and practices including AWS, API, ASME, NACE, DNV, and ISO
  • Broad understanding of risk management
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Direct experience with materials and fabrication specifications for demanding environments including corrosive and sour service would be preferred
  • Direct experience with materials specifications for demanding environments including low temperature and sour service would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of common welding inspection techniques and limitations
  • Familiarity with NDE techniques
  • Familiar with corrosion, materials processing, inspection, nondestructive testing, mechanical and corrosion testing, quality control as well as failure analysis of carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloys
  • Familiar with pressure equipment design, and pipe and pressure vessel fabrication
  • Self-motivated and focused on achieving business results through a multi-disciplined team
  • Demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills
