Seismic Software Engineer

Job Role Summary

 

  • Software development and support for seismic processing applications
  • Implement, enhance, and/or improve scientific software for the upstream business 
  • Collaborate with seismic processing researchers and computational scientists to take prototype research code and commercialize within ExxonMobil using vendor provided and internal frameworks 
  • Support internal business clients on issue resolution in a global operations environment

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from recognized university in Computer Science  or Computer Engineer; minimum GPA 7.0 and above
  • Strong numerical analysis skills, preferably a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Applied Mathematics, Computational Science or Geophysics
  • Strong knowledge programming in C++ and OOAD is critical
  • Experience in using STL and Boost libraries are a plus
  • Experience working in a Linux environment is a must have
  • Capable of understanding software constructs and its implication on the hardware
  • Experience working in a scientific/technical computing environment with a minimum 3 to 8 years 
  • Experience in supporting a global operations environment
  • Communication and collaboration with researchers and software development team in Houston
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Flexible with domestic and international travel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

 

Optional skills that are highly desired:

 

  • Parallel programming in a High Performance Computing environment (OpenMP, MPI)
  • Working experience with scientific computing packages, such as FFTW, MKL, Lapack
  • Prior experience in seismic processing software development or geoscience domain
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
