Production Chemist

Job Role Summary


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and sustain ExxonMobil asset integrity management best practices
  • Conduct surveillance, data management/trending, gaps assessment, and develop fit-for-risk technical recommendations to support company’s integrity management improvement initiatives
  • Provide direct support to Global Production Unit Chemical Management Teams
  • Review and suggest enhancements to current chemical supplier treatment strategy and total system analysis
  • Evaluate chemical selection criteria, target dosages, chemical injection surveillance, fluids monitoring, corrosion monitoring, and process surveillance; recommend adjustments to chemical management program 
  • Directly engage vendor site personnel/global organization to improve on-site support
  • Understand terms of chemical contracts and ensure minimum service standards are met
  • Standardize chemical supplier routine reporting
  • Optimize data management tools, reporting, and minimum data analysis requirements
  • Pursue automation of chemical injection tracking, and the retrieval, analysis, and reporting of integrity and process surveillance data
  • Interface with Operations and Maintenance personnel and Purchasing departments
  • Ensure chemicals management program meets company’s expectations and asset objectives
  • Develop and maintain standardized reporting of non-conformances and KPIs
  • Develop and complete reports that summarize health check of asset chemical management program
  • Capture and disseminate operational excellence best practices and chemicals related lessons learned across Global Production Units and new projects


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Corrosion Control Engineering, Chemistry or other relevant technical discipline
  • Professional work experience in the O&G Upstream Production Industry
  • Experience in oilfield chemical management with an operating company, or a field service provider, or an engineering/consulting firm
  • Able to provide holistic oilfield chemical program management via integration of various data types (e.g., pumped volumes, fluid analysis, residual testing, inspections, process surveillance data, etc.)
  • Extensive experience stewarding chemical program design, management, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with functional chemistries, application design, and surveillance programs required to successfully manage asset integrity, flow assurance and phase separation enhancement
  • Direct experience supervising chemical providers at production sites and engaging the broader vendor technical staff
  • Understanding of commercially-available technologies for remote control and surveillance of chemical injection equipment
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and support client needs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Strong verbal communication and writing skills
  • Previous exposure to ExxonMobil or other O&G operators
  • Direct experience working onsite in O&G Upstream production facilities
  • Development of Key Performance Indicators and non-conformance reporting
  • NACE, API, or similar certifications in integrity management would be an advantage
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work effectively in virtual and multidiscipline teams and willing to work outside regular hours on an ad-hoc basis
