What role you will play in our team
As an Owner’s Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and support engineering, planning, assessments, and risk management for marine terminal facilities worldwide. The role encompasses evaluating marine terminal design, operations, maintenance, and structural integrity, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. The role requires deep understanding of marine terminal structures, equipment, mooring, berthing, cargo handling, ship sore interface and other marine terminal operations.
The role is based in Bengaluru, India, and includes domestic and international travel.
What you will do
- Provide engineering support for marine terminal facilities including marine structures, berthing and mooring, cargo transfer, ship/shore access, fire protection, pollution prevention, shore protection and dredging
- Conduct structural evaluations to confirm design adequacy or condition of marine structures due degradations and provide effective maintenance strategy
- Develop equipment strategies for structures and equipment based on potential failure mechanisms, consequences and risk to support effective risk management at operating site
- Conduct mooring and berthing evaluations to define Vessel Acceptance Criteria to confirm berth/vessel compatibility, minimum mooring requirements, and environmental operating limits
- Support capital projects scoping, front-end engineering design to detailed engineering review of contract design for marine terminal facilities to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Perform operations and integrity assessments / surveys to assist facilities identify, mitigate and manage risk assuring compliance with company / industry standards
- Support technology development and qualification for marine terminal equipment/systems from concept evaluation through pilot testing and deployment
- Contribute to development or update of company / industry standards. Incorporate industry and company learnings to ensure safe marine terminal operations.
- Interface with business units, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations
- Provide post incident response to terminals for continued operations
- This position requires domestic and international travel
About you - Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marine Structures or Civil (Structural) Engineering from recognized university
- Master’s degree in Marine Structures or Civil (Structural) Engineering or related discipline is desirable
- Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience
- Knowledgeable in the field of Marine Terminal / Coastal Structural / Ports / Harbor / Docks / Berthing & Mooring
- Knowledgeable in Cargo Transfer / Ship Shore Interface / Terminal Operations
- Knowledgeable in industry standards for marine terminals, experience in structural design of marine facilities, fender design and mooring analysis
- Experience in design and analysis of marine structures, berths, fenders and mooring system
- Knowledge of key industry guidelines for marine such as OCIMF and PIANC
- Capable of reading and interpreting drawings and specifications for typical marine terminal components (cargo transfer systems, mooring, fenders, gangways, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Candidate should have strong technical and analytical skills
- Candidate should have strong communication skills and collaboration to work in global team setting
- Candidate should be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results
- Willing to travel internationally to visit marine terminals and flexible in work hours
- Previous technical position in oil & gas industry is strongly preferred
- Experience with sizing and layout of marine terminal structures and facilities based on ship/shore interface requirements (e.g., ship size, effective mooring layouts, gangway and loading arm or hose operating envelopes, etc.) is desired
- Experience in assessing existing operations including procedures / facilities is desired
