What role you will play in our team
As an Owner’s Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and support engineering, planning, assessments, and risk management for floating production platforms and vessels. The role encompasses hull and mooring integrity, inspection scopes, marine systems integrity, maintenance, risk-based strategies, and Classification Society interface. The role requires strong Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering fundamentals to support projects, design and analysis, field development, integrity, operations and life extension.
The role is based in Bengaluru, India, and includes domestic and international travel.
What you will do
- Provide engineering support for effective management of operations and integrity of marine floating operating facilities such as FPSO, TLP, Spar, Semi-Submersible, CALM buoy
- Provide engineering support for marine integrity management, inspection scopes, risk-based equipment strategies, preventative maintenance, risk assessments, fitness-for-service assessments related to hull, mooring, marine systems, offloading, and life saving appliances
- Support greenfield and brownfield projects with scoping, concept design, front-end engineering design to detailed engineering review to ensure compliance with company and industry standards
- Provide engineering support for field-specific concept or operating assets covering the full life-cycle of the asset i.e., newbuild, conversion, brownfield modifications and life extension
- Identify, develop, qualify and champion implementation of new technologies in marine space to improve safety, drive competitiveness and step-changes in value realized
- Perform hydrodynamic, mooring, global performance, strength, fatigue, offloading, hose, availability and operability analysis
- Provide engineering oversight and review of third-party contractors and marine service providers engineering deliverables. Review, evaluate and influence contractors in the selection of analysis methodologies, tool and engineering best practices
- Contribute to development or update of company / industry standards. Incorporate industry and company learnings to ensure safe marine operations
- Interface with business units, classification societies, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations
- This position requires domestic and international travel including floating assets offshore
About you - Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture / Ocean Engineering / Offshore Engineering from recognized university (with GPA 6.0 and above)
- Master’s degree in Marine Structures or Civil (Structural) Engineering or related discipline is desirable
- Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in related engineering discipline from recognized university (with GPA 6.0 and above)
- Strong background of marine integrity management, corrosion protection, risk-based inspections, repair, marine systems, preventative maintenance, and equipment strategies
- Strong background of design and analysis of floating structures, hydrodynamics, mooring system, hull structure, strength, fatigue, offloading, riser interface, topside interface, metocean, marine transportation and installation
- General knowledge of floating assets in Oil & Gas industry (Spar, TLP, FPSO, FSO, FSRU, FLNG, Semi-Submersible, CALM), concept description, features, application, analyses, range and operations
- Knowledgeable in floating structures, hydrodynamics, marine structures, marine systems, mooring systems, offloading and marine integrity management
- Working knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices for design, inspections and maintenance and operations of floating and marine systems (API, ISO, ABS, DNV, BV, LR etc.)
- Capable of reading and interpreting drawings (structural / Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) and specifications for typical marine systems (structural, cargo transfer, mooring systems, lifesaving appliances, fire fitting systems etc.)
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Candidate should have strong technical and analytical skills
- Candidate should have strong communication skills (written and verbal) and collaboration to work in global team setting
- Candidate should be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results
- Willing to travel internationally to visit marine facilities offshore and flexible in work hours
- Relevant experience working with oil & gas industry operators as Marine Engineer / Naval Architect or closely-related professional position responsible for design or integrity and operations support is highly desirable
- Working knowledge of Classification Society rules and guidance, and experience working directly with/or aliasing with Classification Society is highly desirable
- Knowledgeable in hydrodynamics, metocean criteria, global performance, stationkeeping, dynamic concepts such as resonance, damping, non-linear effects, couped analysis, installation, weather window, operability analysis, and riser system is desirable
- Familiar with riser and topside interface, ship construction, yard integration, transportation and field installation including pre-lay and hookup
- Familiar with LNG and gas carrier design, including: containment system, gas/vapor management, safety and propulsion systems
- Experience in assessing existing operations including procedures / facilities is desired
