Fluid Properties Computational Modeler

Job Role Summary

 

 

We are looking to hire computational modelers to work on challenging engineering and geoscience problems for our upstream business, including exploration, development, and production. Specific areas of interest for this position include physics-based predictive computational models in physical property prediction of hydrocarbon fluids and multi-phase flow predictions.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Work with computational scientists, engineers, and geoscientists to develop and deliver computational tools, models, algorithms, and software for prediction of multi-phase flow and for prediction of physical properties of hydrocarbon fluids.
  • Contribute to various stages of application development i.e. implementation, development, testing, deployment and general support
  • Create tutorials, documentation, training material, or case studies

 
Requirements

 

  • Master’s degree (preferred) from a recognized university in Chemical Engineering with minimum GPA 7.0 and above. Candidates with degrees in related disciplines are encouraged to apply if they have relevant experience in multi-component, multi-phase thermodynamic modeling
  • Professional work experience in developing, applying, or analyzing multi-component, multi-phase thermodynamic models and simulations. Minimum one year applied computational work experience for candidates with Master's degrees and minimum two years of such experience for candidates with Bachelor's degrees.
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamic phase equilibrium is required
  • Strong knowledge of general numerical analysis and methods for solving differential equations are required
  • Experience in lower-level programming languages such as C or C++ is required
  • Experience in MATLAB scripting is required
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a collaborative environment is required
  • Experience using PVTSim, HYSYS, or other thermodynamic physical property modeling packages is an advantage
  • Experience in technical software development is an advantage
  • Previous work experience in the upstream oil and gas industry is an advantage
