Accounting & Business Control Lead

Job Role Summary

 

Workscope Overview:

  • Provide oversight on overall project accounting and business control activities, ensuring all project practitioners as well as contractors, subcontractors and vendors are familiar and adhere to key business, financial & security controls. Lead a team comprising of accounting assistants, analysts and technical assistants in providing project accounting and business controls support activities remotely

 

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction and oversight of Project Support Group Lead, lead the team on all project accounting and business controls activities, provide advice and guidance on related issues, and steward the overall accounting and business controls performance of the organization
  • Establish and maintain controls and controller’s infrastructure for projects, and ensure such infrastructure is working effectively
  • Steward Financial Control Plan and Business Controls Calendar in alignment with the project execution plans
  • Implement appropriate accounting, controls and stewardship processes
  • Liaison with Procurement / Treasurer’s / Risk Management / Project Controls Function
  • Build and maintain well-functioning network with organization’s leadership team as well as all project leaders
  • Ensure respective responsibilities are mutually developed, understood and accepted
  • Foster and support project team’s responsibility for project and business controls
  • Support the Project Support Group Lead for all internal and external audits, ensuring all preparation, follow-ups and gaps closure before and after audits are timely worked on
  • Support the Project Support Group Lead for all project specific financial matters, including controls over contractors and subcontractors, claims / litigation support etc
  • Provide inputs to any relevant accounting and business controls trainings content, or as and when required
  • Select, train and provide guidance to newly hired project accountants

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree in accounting degree from a recognized university
  • Minimum 7 – 15 years’ experience in audit, accounting, commercial or controller’s background
  • At least 5 in leadership role / supervising the team
  • Basic understanding of project development and execution process required.
  • Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills
  • Mobile for geographical relocation without restrictions
  • Able to lead a team of 7 to 10 people and provide support to different geographical locations remotely
  • Good command of English both written and spoken
  • Able to work well with others in a fast-changing
