Process Control and Optimization Engineer

Antwerp Refinery is one of ExxonMobil’s most automated refineries, contributing to a safe, reliable and efficient operation. As process control & optimisation engineer you are responsible for designing, implementing and improving effective control strategies on the different process units in the refinery. On top of the process control layer, online & continuous optimisation plays a key role in capturing the highest margin.


The team
Our team provides services to all operations within the refinery, hereby interacting with multiple stakeholders. Our goal is to support the process operators to a maximum extent and contribute to the site’s profitability. You will be based at the Antwerp Refinery and work in a team of 6 people, each with its own focus domain. Your focus domain is online optimisation.

Required Competencies & Skills

 

Strong analytical skills

You are able to grasp complex control & optimization problems, analysing them and identifying the next steps for further improvement. Continuous “on the job” learning is what keeps you challenged.

 

Team player and effective communication

You will be working at the interface between the operations, technical and supply groups, effectively interacting with the end users of our services. You are able to adapt your communication style according to who you are addressing. Changing your personal style is a key aspect in working within diverse teams.

Prior experience with process control applications building and online optimisation

 

You master the Dutch language or are willing to learn it on a reasonable timeframe and you are able to work and discuss in English.

 

Preferred education: 5 year university education MSc in chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering.
