Occupational Health LPN/Administrative Assistant

Job Description

Perform dual clinical nursing and administrative duties autonomously under the direction of the site Registered Nurse (RN); provide medical testing and care to a culturally diverse employee population; assure OSHA medical compliance; provide administrative support for the daily operations of the Medical Department.  The position is located at ExxonMobil's Research and Engineering facility in Clinton, NJ.  

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Provide services within the professional scope and standards of license specific to health care of employees and others. 
  • Conducts clinical assessments to assist or determine fitness for work which may include:  vision, audiometric testing, respirator fit, pulmonary function, EKGs, venipuncture, urinalysis, drug screen specimen collection, & breath alcohol. 
  • Involvement with health screening procedures as required by global and local MOH Evaluations
  • Provides advice to employees on prevention of illness and injury.
  • Provides emergency treatment for injury and illness.
  • Coordination of occupational health programs.
  • Maintain lab supplies and equipment for government reporting purposes.
  • Oversee and manage the hazardous waste disposal according to MOH clinical and local regulatory guidelines.
  • Administrative duties to include:
    • Serve as the Summit Surveillance Contact (SSC) – Update employee records related to personnel change notices, industrial hygiene information and management requests; track and schedule exams; run related reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis; serve as medical department – employee liaison.
    • Answering phones, greeting visitors including limiting access to secured areas; scheduling appointments; maintaining calendars; ordering supplies; preparing correspondence, reports and medical department presentations; coordinating staff travel; managing incoming and outgoing mail and shipping requirements; managing and stewarding department expenses; invoice processing; ensuring department adherence to Record Retention Guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current, valid New Jersey licensure required. 
  • Recognized expertise in applied clinical health risk assessment and fitness for work determination.
  • Certification in audiometric testing (CAOHC), pulmonary function (PFT), breath alcohol (BAT), & DOT drug screen collection.
  • Proficient typing with computer knowledge and skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized, with the ability to adjust to changing work activities and priorities.
  • Attention to detail while performing any and all nursing activities.
  • Commitment to working in a “safety first” environment.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Occupational health or similar experience preferred.
