Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company has an immediate opening for a member of the Technical Staff in the area of Fuel Products in Annandale, NJ. A successful candidate will have a broad background in fuels and biofuels technology with core expertise in life cycle analysis (LCA). In addition, a successful candidate will have experience in reviewing and summarizing complex regulatory language in order to provide technical guidance on the implications to ExxonMobil business partners. Candidate must have a high level of motivation, work well as part of a team, be willing to commit to a multi-year assignment, and have flexibility to travel.  

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis including LCA, associated with characterizing, modeling, and assessing environmental performance of products and processes associated with the Energy and Petrochemical industry
  • Provide understanding and technical knowledge of fuel products and their applications to support ExxonMobil business objectives
  • Review and summarize extensive, complex regulatory language and provide technical recommendations
  • Support Global initiatives for advanced biofuels in anticipation of regulatory requirements and industry trends
  • Represent ExxonMobil at industry and academic meetings by attending and presenting technical papers and approved ExxonMobil policy positions
  • Interface with third parties to ensure understanding of product component performance, customer needs and supplier trends

Job Requirements

  • A BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical), Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field is required
  • Academic experience in the area of life cycle analysis, energy system modeling, fuel products development and/or fuels technology
  • More than three years of working experience with Argonne National Laboratory GREET® Model, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) energy use and emissions output models  
  • Strong interest in fuel applications and fuels technology
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Willing to travel internationally and relocate domestically
