What role you will play in our team

 

We are seeking dynamic, creative, and resourceful candidates for ExxonMobil’s Bengaluru, India location to work on challenging petrophysical problems in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of formation evaluation specialists and operations geologists located in Houston, USA.  Candidates will conduct applied project work with real well logs, core and well test data, using a variety of software for petrophysical data processing and evaluation.  Ideal candidate can work independently on all types of petrophysical log data and be able to interpret complex analyses from raw logs to integrated solutions.

 

What you will do

 

  • In consultation with ExxonMobil’s Formation Evaluation group in Houston, define project objectives, work scopes and deliverables 
  • Contribute to all stages of petrophysical project work including data preparation, pre-processing, data filtering / augmentation, environmental corrections, and calibration 
  • Conduct model-based petrophysical analyses, while supporting ExxonMobil’s efforts to formulate new and innovative workflows to improve the efficiency of multi-well workflows. 
  • Perform sonic log Q.C, rock physics modeling, fluid substitution, well-to-seismic ties, and seismic modeling if needed.
  • Work with computational scientists, engineers, and geoscientists to test, deliver and support various petrophysical software tools, models, algorithms and software.

About You

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree with minimum 7.0 GPA or equivalent from a recognized university in Geology, Geophysics, Physics or Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial experience in petrophysical analyses in support of upstream oil and gas operations.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of seismic rock physics, and seismic wave propagation
  • Strong computational and analytical skills.
  • Experience with one or more integrated petrophysical analysis software suites.
  • Proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

 

  • Knowledge of well log, core and test data acquisition, statistical methods, machine learning, signal processing, numerical modeling, computer programming and optimization will be an added advantage.
